Being a factual timeline of the History of our Campaign Setting (Oops. I've reviewed our History and found a single prevarication….okay, outright lie. Only one. A shiny Golden Apple to the Player, Character, Reader or Creature that points it out first - Khaz). (Found via Downtime Exploration – Sharah Bloodcast, I'll leave it up for others):

(DR) – Dale Reckoning, the Calendar of Harptos.

(KR) – Kordian Reckoning, adopted 1300DR.

161DR: (Year of the Hangman's Noose). The Dawn Cataclysm, which had many and varied effects upon Faerûn and its gods, perhaps just as far-reaching and long-lasting as the Time of Troubles, left behind an artefact unknown to most of the world. Tyche, goddess of luck, had been corrupted by a form of the god Moander, and in order to save her, her dear friend Selûne (warned by Lathander, Azuth, and divinations from the Pale Tesseract) struck her with a bolt of pure light that split her husk apart, allowing Tymora and Beshaba to emerge.

The Lady of Silver wept for Tyche, however, and one tear that fell from her divine countenance came to the Material Plane in the form of a meteorite, Selune’s Tear, where it was found by her followers in Thar. (Seen across the realms, this is the namesake, centuries later, for the Island in the middle of the River Malravan. The islet, used by the congregation of Selune, bore the monastery complex, the House of Her Starry Gaze until the Consecration of Selunes Tear in 452KR / 1359DR during the Time of Troubles. See Halifax Quinto a story by Alastair_Manchild, for a quick synopsis of another tale related to the goddess of the Moon.

circa 500DR: A vibrant emerging people along the Eastern end of the Anarden begin to trade and form a proto-state at the present day sites of Innarith, Kordova and Londas. These people, Changelings from an elder blood-line, became known as Thalasians. Their primary deities were the Lords of Fire, Magma and Ash (see Thalasian Animism) and the Lady of Mists, Leira. They also recognised a 'Sea-Mother' deity, whose name is lost to history and who has been associated with Istishia the Elemental Lord of Water. It is possible that she was either a consort or the progeny of this elemental being.

Thalasia quickly evolved from simple communities of rural farmers to emergent city-dwelling communities that looked to flex their growing military and commercial might. The make-up of the emergent city-states was always skewed toward other races as the Changelings themselves were not particularly fecund. Given their ability to shape change it became a simple proposition for Changelings to infiltrate, disrupt and control most peoples they came into contact with.

Their abilities at concealment, deception and imitation however soon meant that a stratified society became the norm, with Changelings at the top, Humans second and the other races a distant third. In particular the Duskwood Elves that lived in the then much larger forest regions had a series of long-running territorial disputes with Changeling communities even prior to their ascendance.

630DR: Establishment of the three major cult centres at Mount Thalandraea (in the Whisperwind Hills), Mount Rothoa and Mount Hyradaea (in the Firesteap Mountains) completed. Temple complexes begin practicing Human sacrifice at approximately the same time. Previous offerings had consisted of "Lesser Races" or Oxen.

circa. 655-70DR: This period sees the beginning of the widespread use of Rune Magic throughout Thalasia. Temples and monasteries compete to master this 'new' form of magic and harness its' power to drive engineering and magical achievements previously unseen.

750DR: Thalasian civilisation, under minority Changeling rule reaches its' pinnacle. Mechanics, magic and religious practice all at their zenith, their armies (human soldiers) dominate the region of the Anarden.

754DR: A minor eruption in the Firesteaps is heralded as a sign of the Lords of the Elements' favour upon the nation of Thalasia.

756DR: First Eruption of Mount Rothoa. City of Valdenasa planned and construction begun on the destruction layer of a minor settlement previously near the base (now the site of Valda). The Rothoan temple complex is damaged but rebuilt on a larger and even grander scale with the new settlement of Valdenasa nearby servicing its' needs.

763DR: Ithriana (modern Hylaea) built and occupied for the first time. The island stronghold rises out of the Anarden and dominates sea trade in its' eastern end.

780-835DR: The Period of the Warring Temples. Factionalisation of the Elemental Churches of Fire, Magma and Ash sees city to city alignments and internecine struggles for power. The decline of Classical Thalasian civilisation begins as the people turn from construction and study to warfare. Human population now outstrips the Changeling elite many-fold and increasingly their desires for representation and freedom from abuse become issues for the Thalasian 'city-states' that make up the empire.

circa 850DR: Maximum Geographical size of Thalasia reached.

circa 850DR: Age old enmity and inscrutable goals clash on the Elemental Planes of Ash and Magma, and on the Plane of Acheron between the Lords of the Elemental Planes and the Devils of the Nine Hells. The Infernal armies are led by Bzeltomphet and warfare begins to spill from the Outer and Inner planes and 'bleed' onto various Material Planes of Existence, including Abeir-Toril.

858KR: Birth of King Kord the Preserver in Londana (near modern Londas).

866DR: In his ongoing 'inter-planar' war with the Lords of Magma and Ash, Bzeltomphet identifies Thalasia as a major source of godly power for his opponents. He resolves to strategically cut them off from their source of 'nourishment' and makes plans to 'portal' armies to the Prime Material, specifically Toril, to attack the Lords power-base in person.

867DR: Rise of the Londana Speratists. Human slaves, subjects and adventurers combine to form a resistance force dedicated to overthrowing the now monolithic Changeling rule in Thalasia. Internal and External problems are rife, with the Temples of the various cities still competing for their gods' attentions and shamelessly discrediting or handicapping their rivals. Kord's father, a blacksmith, joins the fighters and with no other family ties brings his only son along with him.

867-879DR: The Ash Wars.

See: A History of the Ash Wars by Danmara Whitelock.

Or: The Doom of Kord (Front Page) & The Doom of Kord Continued.

876KR: Ullussuth, General of the Hosts of Fire challenges Bzeltomphet for control of the region around Mount Rothoa where one portal to the Nine was located. Bzeltomphet defeats Ullussuth triggering the second eruption of Mount Rothoa. The destruction also seals the portal in a river of molten rock, cutting off all but one static portal to the Outer Planes.

876DR: Second Eruption of Mount Rothoa. City of Valdenasa partially destroyed in the resulting conflagration. Minor tidal waves triggered in the  Anarden that cripple the coastal communities and island states. Many smaller atolls, islets and reefs altered or destroyed. Ithriana (modern Hylaea) completely destroyed by an earthquake and the monstrous waves that followed.

877KR: Kord steals the "Magma-Heart Axe" also called The Ax of Kord used by  Bzeltomphet to resist the scorching lashes and magics of the Elementals and their servants. Kord is now acknowledged as the sole leader of the Londana Resistance and whilst the depleted Planar armies still clash on the plains, the 'separatists' make their way toward Thala and the seat of the Lord of Magma, Raak-Som-Thazra.

878DR: Bzeltomphet is urgently recalled to the Nine Hells by Asmodeus to assist his daughter Glasya, then 'Queen of Erinyes". The two devils meet and, unplanned by Her father, a partnership (of sorts) forms. During this period the already overwhelmed armies of the devils and devil-kin in Thalasia are pushed back almost to extinction.  The final Infernal Portal is destroyed. With no real leadership and no means of returning to the Nine the devil armies of the Third Cube are slowly butchered by the remaining Elemental Lords and their kin.

878KR:  Kord's Pact, made between King Kord the Preserver and Gargaash the Elder, Elemental Lord of Ash in the shadow of the ruined crater of Mount Hyradaea. Elementals loyal to the Plane of Ash and Plane of Fire depart the Material. The majority of Thalasian Changelings thought to be either hunted down by human revolutionaries or killed on the battlefields of the Ash Wars.

The Stone of Ash is relocated as part of the Pact from the destroyed temple complex at Mount Hyradaea to the Resistance Camps near modern Rishadan. The purpose of the relocation is not recorded. It's existence or movements are sadly also not recorded after this time though Kord was known to have routinely referred to the stone throughout his later years. Both the Stone of Fire and the Stone of Magma were shattered during either the second eruption of Mount Rothoa or in the wild fighting in the Thala Citadel toward the end of the Ash Wars.

879DR / 1KR: Kord, (King Kord the Preserver, the Extinguisher of the Flame, Saviour of Thala), defeats the Lord of Magma, Raak-Som-Thazra beneath Mount Thalandraea (now the Whisperwind Hills). The resulting destruction completes Thala's fall, reshapes the mountains into slag and ash encrusted hills and causes a final series of eruptions and earthquakes that devastate this region of southern Faerun from the Landrise to beyond the Arnrock. The Ash Wars officially end as the forces of Raak-Som-Thazra are mopped up by the weary yet still determined survivors of the ruined states of the Anarden.

880DR / 2KR: Establishment of a refugee city in the ruins of the old capital, Thala. This comes to be called simply Kord, after the leader of these 'settlers'.

907DR / 28KR: Death of Kord the Preserver.

186KR: Establishment of the monastery House of Her Starry Gaze on island in the centre of the River Malravan. Docks built to service the monastery and worship of Selune in the area rises significantly in prominence.

220KR: Brotherhood of the Sacred Vault excavates first chambers in the modern district of Thala. Banking concepts and official usury are introduced to the region for the first time.

245KR: Kord is now an important agricultural centre supplying the region with grapes, vegetables and grains from her rich volcanic soil. Large deposits of gemstones and ore bearing rock are discovered in the Whisperwind Hills and nearby Firesteap Mountains.

272KR: Establishment of the University of Kordova, Magna Circuli Magicae and The Clifftower, temple to Mystra.

275KR: Noble families, eager to escape the oppressive airs of the Lake of Steam, begin to establish estate houses and country retreats amongst the hills and dales surrounding Kord. This promotes an already prosperous wine industry and trade begins to flow up the River Malravan from the fledgling port of Rishadan.

278KR: Construction of the Walls of Old Kord and system of irrigation completed.

287KR: By Order of the Kings of House Carmino, temples and bona-fide churches within Kord become exempt from Guild Law and answerable only to the Office of the Royal Prosecutor. The power of the various temples increases, allowing a resurgence of Thalasian Animistic practise to flourish amongst the nobility in secret. Their use of existing churches to hide their activities was exacerbated by the Carmino Law and meant that in 302KR Drazzar, the Forbidden Lord, was able to overthrow the dynasty.

302KR-317KR: Reign of King Drazzar. Time of the Forbidden. In a misguided attempt to resurrect the powers of the old Thalasians, Drazzar reintroduced religious practices of sacrifice and burning to the Elemental Lords. His reign of 15 years was a period of terror and fire in Kordova, before an alliance of interests between the previous kings of House Carmino and House Bosra saw him assassinated and his power-base broken. By prior arrangement the head of House Bosra assumes the throne. Archaelogical investigations into this time period and layer of Kordova's under-strata are subject to prohibition and are only open to members of the Iron Fist or agents of the Royal Council.

332KR: Athras and Glyndellein (adventurers from the North-West of Faerun), defeat the Dragon Turtle Somenallakk'Tuk'terra near Hylaea in the Summer of this year. Coastal communities freed from 'tribute' to the beast.

333KR: Establishment and Royal Charter date for the guild of The Sunset Wanderers under Athras the Grim, "The White Knight, and his companion Glyndellein Surehands.

392KR: Construction of the Grand Canal completed. River Malravan diverted and port of Rishadan annexed into Kordian territory by agreement and force-of-arms.

435KR: King Markovar Altan II extends Guild-Law to cover all but the most severe punishments and fines. Guilds begin to operate without supervision from the Royal Council. (This law effectively turns the Royal Council into an Advisory body for Foreign Affairs and War. The financial side of Kordovan life now filtered to the Chancellor through the Guilds).

444KR: Death of King Markovar Altan II. Seige of Innarith. Trade disputes become war and despite the king's demise from a wasting sickness, his son Ottovar leads Kordovan troops successfully over the walls on the same night he would discover he had become king.

1352DR / 445KR: Newly crowned King Ottovar Altan I of Kordova marries a Cimbaran High Maiden, Sydana elam'nae Tanros, in Spring of this year. Queen Sydana is pregnant with their first child before the year is out.

445KR: Having many new duties, yet still vigorous and ambitious, King Ottovar completes the conquest of Londas, Valda and Torsch (although the latter two were taken peacefully and by consent of the citizenry, hence the favourable mining regulations attached to Torsch at present. Valda has a long association of inter-marriage and fosterage with Kordova).

446KR: Crown Prince Sergio Altan born. Foundation stones for the Way of Conquest laid. Palace District seperated and New Palace construction begun. Legion District relocated and foundation work begun.

447KR: War against cities of the Mivasch Confederation and Derlusk begins with Ottovar expanding what his armies had already gained.

448KR: Prince Giano Altan born.

450KR:  Prophecy of the Crying Oracle recorded on Selunes Tear by Randa Tarekk. Official adoption of Kordova as the appropriate naming convention for the City. Empire officially becomes the Kordian Hegemony. Edicts amended to reflect such and many institutions change names, titles, etcetera to enhance their status, pander to the monarchy or keep in vogue.

1358DR / 451KR: (Year of Shadows). The Time of Troubles.

Queen Sydana miscarries the third heir to Kordova. Construction of the Temple of Eviscerated Joy begins.

(Ask GM about specific event inclusions or exclusions for all of Faerun and Toril from The Time of Troubles, and how they affect our characters, deities and Campaign Setting).

452KR: Consecration of Selunes Tear and destruction of the Monastery (House of Her Starry Gaze) on the island of Selunes Tear. Worship of Selune banned within Kordova and her growing Kordian Hegemony. All Selunites are proscribed and banished from the confines of Kordia under pain-of-death. Texts and materials relating to the worship of Selune are collected and deposited in the University's banned vaults.

455KR: Birth of the Royal couples' last child Princess Tevalya.

469-71KR: "Riding of the West March". King Ottovar subjugates the fractious Orc tribes at the eastern end of the Firesteap Mountains and the plains near the Landrise. Rather than exterminate the tribes-people following his victory he instead employs the stronger Orc tribes as mercenaries and the weaker as supply crews. Town of Sherra revitalised with migrants who plant extensive vegetable crops and become labourers for the mining opportunities being opened up in the Firesteaps.

470KR: Edicta rearranging Port duties and the disembarkation of Foreign Vessels announced by Chancellor's Office. Iras Salva, Warden of the Ports officiates in King Ottovar's absence.
